Good to know
- The list shows each file’s encryption, such as AES-256, and what it restricts before you unlock it.
- Files that share a password unlock in one go; any that need a different one stay in the list for another try.
- Unlocking keeps the pages exactly as they were; only the encryption is removed.
- To add a new password afterwards, use Protect PDF.
Questions people ask
How do I remove a password from a PDF?
Add the file. If it needs a password to open, type it and press Unlock. The copy you download opens without a password and without restrictions.
Can it open a PDF if I do not know the password?
No. It does not guess or crack passwords. It only works when you know the open password, or when the file has no open password and only restrictions. Use it for your own documents, or ones you have permission to change.
My PDF opens without a password but will not print or copy. Why?
It has an owner password that sets restrictions. Such files unlock without asking for anything: add the file and press Unlock.
It says the password is wrong.
Passwords are case-sensitive. Check Caps Lock and the keyboard layout, and look for a space copied at the end. The eye button shows what you typed.
Are my PDF files uploaded?
No. Every step runs inside your browser with the pdf-lib and pdf.js libraries. Files never leave your device, there is no size or count limit beyond your computer's memory, and nothing is stored when you close the tab.
