How to scan documents to PDF

Press Start camera and tap the round button for each page, or use Add photos to pick pictures you already took.
Crop and clean up
Drag the corners onto the page edges, rotate if needed, and choose Enhance, Greyscale or Black & white. Reorder or delete pages with the buttons under each thumbnail.
Make the PDF
Pick A4, Letter or Fit to photo and press Make PDF. Download it from the box that appears.
Good to know
- Good light and a dark table under the page give the sharpest scan and the most reliable edge detection.
- Turn the torch on in a dim room if your phone has one; hold the phone flat above the page to limit distortion.
- Black & white at 60 to 70% quality keeps a multi-page scan small enough to email.
- On a phone without camera access in the browser, Add photos opens the camera app instead.
- A laptop or desktop webcam works too; hold the page up to it or lay it flat under it.
Questions people ask
How do I scan a document with my phone?
Open this page on the phone, press Start camera and allow the camera. Hold the phone over the page and press the round button for each page. Check the corners, pick a filter, then press Make PDF.
What do the filters do?
Enhance evens out shadows and turns the paper white while keeping ink and stamps in colour. Greyscale drops the colour and boosts contrast. Black & white turns every pixel black or white, which suits typed text and gives the smallest files. Original keeps the photo as taken.
The corners are in the wrong place. How do I fix them?
Drag each round handle onto a corner of the page; the result updates as you go. Detect edges tries again, and Whole photo uses the full picture. Edges are found best when the page lies on a darker surface.
Can I make the PDF searchable?
Yes. The scan is saved as images, so run the file through OCR PDF afterwards to add a hidden text layer you can search and copy.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The camera picture, the cropping and the PDF are all made inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and the camera turns off when you stop it, switch tabs or leave the page.
