How to crop a PDF

  1. Add the PDFs

Choose one or more files or drop them on the box. A large preview of the first page appears.

  2. Set the crop

Type the margins, drag the box or its handles, or switch to Auto-trim white space. Choose all pages, odd, even or a page list.

  3. Crop and download

Press Crop. Download the file, or all of them as a zip.

Good to know

  • Rotated pages are handled: margins are measured as you see the page, not as it is stored.
  • Odd and Even let you crop a scanned book with different inner and outer margins in two passes.
  • Dragging a handle turns off Same on all sides, so each edge can be set on its own.
  • Auto-trim leaves blank pages alone instead of shrinking them to nothing.

Questions people ask

How do I crop a PDF?

Add the file, then type the margins in millimetres or drag the box on the preview, and press Crop. The part inside the box is kept on every page you chose.

Is the cut-off part deleted?

No. Cropping sets the page’s CropBox, the visible area that readers show and print. What lies outside is hidden, not removed, so text and images stay sharp and the crop can be undone in an editor. To remove content for good, use Redact PDF.

What does Auto-trim do?

It draws each page small, finds where the ink is and crops to that box plus the padding you set. Each page on its own suits mixed pages; One box for all pages keeps every page the same size, which reads better as a book or a slide deck.

What is the MediaBox and TrimBox option for?

Some printers and imposition tools read the MediaBox or TrimBox rather than the CropBox. Ticking the option sets them all to the crop, so every program sees the same page size.

Are my PDF files uploaded?

No. Every step runs inside your browser with the pdf-lib and pdf.js libraries. Files never leave your device, there is no size or count limit beyond your computer's memory, and nothing is stored when you close the tab.
