How to make a QR code
Add the content
Pick what the code should do: open a link, join a Wi-Fi network, save a contact, start a WhatsApp chat, open a map, add a calendar event, or pay through UPI. A PDF, video, image or app page is just a link. Fill in the fields, or press Use sample to see a finished example.
Design it
Choose a dot style and corner shapes, set your colours, drop a logo in the middle and add a frame with a call to action such as “Scan me”. The preview updates as you go and warns you if a choice would hurt scanning.
Download
Download SVG for print and design tools, or PNG at 256 to 4096 px for screens and documents. Copy image pastes the PNG straight into chats and slides.
Good to know
- Test the code with your phone camera before printing a batch. A 2 cm code scans comfortably from about 20 cm away; make it larger for posters.
- Keep the quiet zone: the empty border around the code is part of the standard, and scanners rely on it. Four modules is the safe default.
- Short links make smaller, cleaner codes. A 20-character URL gives a 25×25 grid; a 200-character vCard needs 77×77.
- Wi-Fi codes work with the camera app on iPhone and Android; no app is needed. The password is stored in plain text inside the code.
- UPI codes open GPay, PhonePe, Paytm and any other UPI app with the payee and amount prefilled.
- Static codes never expire and cannot be tracked. If you need to change the link later, point the code at a page you control.
Questions people ask
Can I add my logo to the QR code?
Yes. Pick one of the built-in icons or drop your own PNG, SVG, JPEG or WebP. The modules behind it are cleared and error correction is raised to H, so phones still read the code. Keep the logo at or below 25% of the code.
Will a styled code still scan?
Yes, as long as the dark parts stay clearly darker than the background and the three corner squares remain visible. Round dots, coloured corners and frames are all fine. Very light colours, inverted colours and oversized logos are what break scanning, and the tool warns you about each.
Which size should I download?
SVG scales to any size and is best for print. For PNG, 512 px suits screens and documents, 1024 px or more suits posters. You can type any custom size up to 4096 px.
Does the code stop working later?
No. These are static codes: the link or text is stored inside the pattern itself, nothing is hosted on a server. They never expire and there is nothing to renew.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. The code, the logo and the image files are all generated in your browser. Nothing leaves your device.
