Tones
Keep beats and pulse tones quiet. Binaural beats need headphones; pulse tones work on speakers. Do not use them while driving, or if you have epilepsy or a seizure condition. Stop if you feel dizzy or unwell. They are for relaxing, not a medical treatment.
How to use focus sounds
Tap a mix
Pick a mix like Rainy cafe or Night train. It starts playing at once. Tap it again to pause, or press the Space key.
Make it yours
Switch sounds on or off and slide each one louder or softer. Save mix keeps it, and Share sends it as a link.
Set a timer
Start the focus timer for work in rounds with breaks, or set the sleep timer so the sound fades out and stops by itself.
Good to know
- Keys: Space plays and pauses, Ctrl+Z undoes a change, Ctrl+C copies the link to your mix.
- Keep it quiet. Background sound works best just loud enough to cover other noise, not louder.
- For sleep, try Sleep storm or Fan for sleep with the sleep timer at 45 minutes.
- Headphones make rain, waves and the cafe feel wider, and binaural beats need them.
- Nothing is downloaded or uploaded: the sounds are made on your device, so it works offline too.
Where people use it

Sleep storm or a steady fan, with a sleep timer that fades out so it never wakes you.
Open plan office
White or pink noise in headphones covers voices near your desk.
Settle a baby
A steady fan or shushing noise at low volume, on a timer for nap time.

Pair a mix with timed rounds of work and short breaks.

Questions people ask
Which sound is best for focus?
It differs from person to person. Brown noise and soft rain suit most people because they are deep and steady. Pink noise is a little brighter. White noise is best at hiding voices in a busy office. Try Deep work first, then change it with the sliders.
What is the difference between white, pink and brown noise?
All three are steady hiss, with the energy spread in different ways. White noise is bright, like a radio between stations. Pink noise has less treble and sounds like steady rain. Brown noise is deeper still, like a far waterfall or a strong wind.
Does it keep playing when I switch tabs or lock my phone?
Yes on computers and Android phones: the sound keeps going in a background tab, and the lock screen shows play and pause buttons. On an iPhone, keep the page open in Safari; if the sound stops when the screen locks, open the page and press play again.
Are these real recordings?
No. Every sound is made live in your browser from numbers: rain drops, waves, birds, voices in the cafe. That is why it starts at once, works offline, never repeats the same way and uses no data.
Do binaural beats work?
Some people find them relaxing or helpful for focus; research is mixed. They need headphones, because each ear gets a slightly different tone. Pulse tones give a similar beat on speakers. Keep them quiet and do not use them while driving or if you have epilepsy.
How does the focus timer work?
It is a Pomodoro timer: 25 minutes of focus, then a 5 minute break, with a longer break after every four rounds. A soft bell marks each change, and the sounds can fade out on breaks and back in when it is time to focus. You can pick 50/10, 90/20 or your own minutes.
Can I save a mix or send it to a friend?
Save mix keeps it on this device under Your mixes. Share gives a link that opens the same mix for anyone. You can also save the mix as a 10, 30 or 60 minute audio file to play in a car or on a speaker.
