How to use the Pomodoro timer
Write your task
Type what you will work on, such as Revise chapter 4. Keep the usual 25 minute focus and 5 minute break, or set your own.
Start and focus
Press Start and work until the gentle chime. The break starts on its own if you leave that box ticked.
Take a long break
After four focus sessions you get a longer break. The count of today's sessions shows under the timer.
Good to know
- The Pomodoro method: short, timed focus with regular breaks helps you start and stay fresh through a long study day.
- Skip moves to the next phase without counting the session, useful when you were interrupted.
- Today's count starts again from zero each day and is saved only on this device.
- Keys: Space starts and pauses, R resets the current phase, F opens full screen.
Questions people ask
What is a Pomodoro?
One focus session, usually 25 minutes, followed by a short break. After four of them you take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes.
Can I change the lengths?
Yes. Set focus, short break and long break minutes and how many sessions come before the long break. A phase that has not started yet takes the new length at once.
Does it keep time if I switch tabs or lock the phone?
Yes. The timer remembers the moment it started and works out the time from the clock, so it stays right in a background tab and even after a reload. A phone that sleeps may delay the sound until you open it again, so keep the screen on for alarms; the page asks the phone to keep the screen awake while a timer runs.
Do I have to press Start after every break?
No. Tick Start breaks on their own and Start focus on its own to let the cycle run by itself.
Is my task or count shared anywhere?
No. The task, settings and today's count stay in this browser. Clear saved data removes them.
