How to make a chart

  1. Add your numbers

Type into the table, or copy cells from a spreadsheet and paste them in. You can also open a CSV or Excel file, or start from a sample.

  2. Pick a chart and polish it

Choose column, bar, line, area, pie, donut, scatter or column with line. Press Make it presentation ready for a headline and callouts, or set titles, colours and labels yourself.

  3. Download or share

Pick a size, then download a PNG, SVG or PDF, copy the picture, or copy a link. The data itself saves as Excel or CSV.

Good to know

  • Each row is one item on the chart (a month, a day, a subject). Each number column is one series with its own colour.
  • Paste keeps the first row as names when it holds words, and the first column as labels.
  • Money, percent and plain numbers follow the way numbers are written where you are. Change the currency in the Text tab.
  • Use a column or bar chart to compare items, a line for change over time, and a pie only for parts of one whole.

Where people use it

  • Monthly expenses

Type what you spent each month and see where the money goes.

  • School project

Turn survey results into a neat chart for a report or a poster.

  • Office report

Paste a table from Excel and download a sharp chart for slides or a PDF.

  • Trend over time

Sales, weight or marks over months look best as a line graph.

Questions people ask

Which chart should I choose?

Compare a few items with a column or bar chart. Show change over months or years with a line or area chart. Show parts of one total with a pie or donut. Check if two measures move together with a scatter chart.

Can I paste data from Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Select the cells, copy, click the table here and paste. Names in the first row become series names and the first column becomes the labels. Numbers with currency signs, commas or percent signs are read correctly.

What does Make it presentation ready do?

It writes a headline that states the main point, keeps your title as the subtitle, calls out the highest and lowest values, sorts bars from largest to smallest where that helps, and turns gridlines on. Press Undo to go back.

Which files can I download?

PNG at 1x, 2x or 4x sharpness, SVG for crisp scaling in slides and design apps, and a PDF page. You can also copy the picture straight into a document or chat, and save the table as Excel or CSV.

Are my numbers uploaded anywhere?

No. The table, the chart and every download are made in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server. A share link carries the numbers inside the link itself, so only people you send it to can see them.
