How to make a line graph

  1. Add your numbers

Put the time steps (months, weeks, years) down the first column and one column of numbers for each line. Paste from a spreadsheet or open a CSV or Excel file.

  2. Shape the lines

Choose smooth or straight lines, start the axis at zero or not, and add axis titles. Make it presentation ready writes a headline such as up 40% from Jan to Jun and marks the highest and lowest points.

  3. Download or share

Pick a size, then download a PNG, SVG or PDF, copy the picture, or copy a link. The data itself saves as Excel or CSV.

Good to know

  • Up to eight lines; each keeps its colour even when you add or remove others.
  • Empty cells leave a gap in the line instead of dropping to zero.
  • Start at zero is on by default. Turn it off to see small changes more clearly, and say so in the subtitle.
  • Area charts fill under the lines; stacked areas show how parts add up over time.

Questions people ask

How do I add more than one line?

Add a column to the table (Add series) and give it a name in the top row. Each number column becomes its own line with a legend entry and an end label.

Why does my line not start at zero?

It does by default. If Start at zero is off, the axis fits your numbers closely, which shows small changes better. Turn it on in the Style tab when the size of the change matters more.

What is the difference between smooth and straight lines?

Straight lines join the points directly. Smooth lines curve gently between them but never overshoot a point, so the highest and lowest values stay honest.

Which files can I download?

PNG at 1x, 2x or 4x sharpness, SVG for crisp scaling in slides and design apps, and a PDF page. You can also copy the picture straight into a document or chat, and save the table as Excel or CSV.

Are my numbers uploaded anywhere?

No. The table, the chart and every download are made in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server. A share link carries the numbers inside the link itself, so only people you send it to can see them.
