How to sign a PDF

  1. Open the PDF

    Choose the file or drop it on the box. Pages appear with thumbnails below for moving between them.

  2. Add your signature

    Press Signature to draw, type or upload it, then drag it into place and resize it. Add initials, the date or text the same way.

  3. Save

    Press Save signed PDF and download the copy. The original file is untouched.

Good to know

  • Drawn signatures are stored as vector ink, so they stay sharp at any zoom and print cleanly.
  • For an uploaded photo, sign on plain white paper in good light; the white background is removed automatically.
  • Arrow keys nudge the selected item by 1 point, Shift+Arrow by 10; Ctrl+Z undoes and Ctrl+D duplicates.
  • Pick the date format your country uses before pressing Date; the date is written as real, searchable text.

Questions people ask

How do I sign a PDF without printing it?

Open the PDF, press Signature and draw, type or upload it. It lands in the middle of the page; drag it into place, resize it from a corner, and press Save signed PDF. The signed copy downloads and the original is left as it was.

Is this a legally valid signature?

It is a visual electronic signature: a picture of your signature placed on the page, like signing a printout and scanning it. Many everyday agreements accept that. It is not a certificate-based digital signature (PAdES, or a DSC used for Indian tax filings), which cryptographically seals the file and proves who signed it. If the other side asks for a digital signature certificate, this tool is not that.

How do I add my initials to every page?

Press Initials, make them once, then press Put on every page. A copy goes on each page at the same spot, and you can still move any one of them.

Is my signature saved anywhere?

Only if Remember on this device is ticked, and then only in this browser's local storage, so the next PDF can be signed in one tap. Forget saved signature deletes it. It is never sent to a server.

Are my PDF files uploaded?

No. The PDF is drawn and written inside your browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib. Typed signatures download their handwriting fonts once; nothing you type or draw is sent with that request.
