Please note: this only helps you remove the password from your own e-Aadhaar, using a password you already know. It does not guess or break passwords. Your PDF, name, year of birth and password are not uploaded or stored anywhere: everything happens in this browser tab and is gone when you close it.

How to remove the password from an Aadhaar PDF

  1. Add the e-Aadhaar PDF

Choose the downloaded file or drop it on the box. It is opened on your device.

  2. Type your name and year of birth

Type the name as printed on the card and your year of birth. The password fills in by itself.

  3. Unlock and download

Press Unlock and download the copy. It opens and prints without asking for a password.

Good to know

  • Use the eye button to see the password that was made, such as SURE1990.
  • Family members' Aadhaar files can go in together; each file that needs a different name stays in the list for another try.
  • To print on a card-sized sheet, open the unlocked copy and crop it with Crop PDF.
  • To lock it again with a password of your own, use Protect PDF.

Questions people ask

What is the password of the e-Aadhaar PDF?

The first 4 letters of your name in capital letters, followed by your year of birth. For Suresh Kumar born in 1990, it is SURE1990. Use the name exactly as it is printed in English on the card. The rule can change from time to time, so check the one shown on the official Aadhaar website when you download the file.

My name has a space or an initial. What is the password then?

Spaces are skipped, but dots count as letters. Sai Kumar born in 1990 is SAIK1990, and S. Kumar born in 1989 is S.KU1989. A name shorter than 4 letters is used in full: Ram born in 1992 is RAM1992.

It says the password is wrong.

Check the spelling of the name against the card, including initials and dots, and use only the year of birth, not the full date. If your Aadhaar was updated recently, use the name as it is on the latest download.

Is it safe to unlock my Aadhaar here?

Yes. The file is opened inside your browser and never sent anywhere. Your name and year of birth are not saved either. Keep the unlocked copy somewhere private, because anyone with the file can now open it.

Is the unlocked copy still a valid e-Aadhaar?

The pages, photo and QR code stay exactly as they were; only the password is removed. Some offices ask for the original download, so keep that file too.
