How to draw a Tamil New Year kolam

  1. When and where

    Puthandu falls in mid April. Draw it early in the morning at the front door and in the pooja room.

  2. Draw the design

    Draw the design with a mango leaf or a lamp in it, then add a colourful border to welcome the year.

  3. Finish and enjoy

    Add colour if you like, light a lamp beside it, and step back to enjoy it. Take a photo before the day wears it away.
