How to draw a 7 to 1 dots kolam

  1. Get ready

    Place the dots in a diamond of straight rows, 7 dots across the middle and two fewer in each row out to a single dot. Print the dot sheet to practise on paper first, or copy the rows straight onto the floor.

  2. Draw the design

    Loop a sikku line around the dots, or join them with straight lines for a pulli kolam. Draw one row at a time and follow the step pictures of the design.

  3. Finish and enjoy

    Check that every dot sits inside a loop or on a line, then add colour if you like. Once 7 dots feel easy, try the next grid up.
