How to draw an entrance kolam

  1. Get ready

    Measure the spot with your hand, then pick a design from this page that fits it. Sweep and sprinkle a little water so the powder holds.

  2. Draw the design

    Draw the centre motif in line with the door, then grow it out toward the steps, so it greets people as they arrive.

  3. Finish and enjoy

    Close every line, add colour if you like, and step back to enjoy it. Draw the same design again tomorrow and it will come out faster.
