Purim blessings and prayers (9)
May the hidden hand that saved the Jews of Persia guide and protect you this year.
May your sorrow be turned to gladness and your mourning into a festive day, as the Megillah says.
May the gifts you give to the poor today bring blessing to your home.
May you have the courage of Esther to speak up for what is right.
May the light, gladness, joy and honour that the Jews had in Esther's time be yours too.
May every hidden blessing in your life be revealed in its time.
May this Purim fill your home with joy and your heart with gratitude.
As Mordechai said, who knows whether you came to this place for just such a time? May you find your purpose.
May you never be too shy to stand up for your people, as Esther did. Chag Purim Sameach.

About Purim
Purim is a joyful Jewish festival that remembers how the Jews of ancient Persia were saved from a plot by Haman, an official of King Ahasuerus, through the courage of Queen Esther and her cousin Mordechai. The story is told in the Book of Esther, the Megillah.
It falls on the 14th of Adar, in February or March, and begins at sunset the evening before. In Jerusalem and a few old walled cities it is kept a day later as Shushan Purim.
The Megillah is read aloud in the synagogue, and children twirl noisemakers (graggers) and stamp to drown out Haman's name. People dress up in costumes, send gift baskets of food to friends (mishloach manot), give gifts to the poor and share a festive meal. Hamantaschen, three cornered cookies filled with poppy seed, jam or chocolate, are the classic treat.
How people celebrate Purim
