How to resize an image

  1. Add images

    Choose files or drop them on the box, as many as you like, or paste an image or a link. Each row shows the original size and the result.

  2. Set the size

    Type a width and height in pixels, choose a percentage, or pick a preset such as Instagram post, YouTube thumbnail or passport photo. Fit, Crop to fill, Stretch or Pad decides what happens when the shape changes.

  3. Download

    Use the button on a row for one file, or Download all to get a zip. Files keep their names and format unless you pick a different output format.

Good to know

  • Leave width or height at 0 to keep the aspect ratio; the other side is worked out for you.
  • Crop to fill is the right choice for social presets: the image covers the whole box and the middle is kept. Fit inside never crops, so one side may come out smaller than asked.
  • Pad puts the whole picture inside the box and fills the rest with a colour; pick white for product photos on marketplaces.
  • Percent scales both sides together. 50% gives a quarter of the pixels and roughly a quarter of the file size.
  • Enlarging beyond about 200% looks soft; tick Don't enlarge to make sure small images are left alone in a batch.
  • Output Same keeps each file's own format; switch to WebP or JPEG for smaller files, or PNG to keep transparency.

Questions people ask

How do I resize an image to exact dimensions without stretching?

Type the width and height and choose Crop to fill. The image is scaled until it covers the box and the middle is kept, so nothing is squashed. Fit inside keeps the whole picture and gives you one side smaller than asked; Pad keeps the whole picture and fills the rest with a colour.

Can I resize many images at once?

Yes. Drop as many as you like; every file gets the same settings and you download them one by one or as a zip. Three files are processed at a time so the page never freezes.

Does resizing reduce the file size?

Usually a lot, because fewer pixels means fewer bytes. Making an image bigger cannot add detail; tick Don't enlarge if you only want to shrink. Use the Compress page if you need a specific file size.

Which preset should I use for a passport photo?

Passport photo (35×45 mm at 300 dpi, 413×531 px) suits Indian passports, visas and most forms; 2×2 inch (600×600 px) is the US size. Use Crop to fill and check that the face stays centred.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Resizing runs in your browser with the canvas API inside web workers. Nothing is sent to a server.
