Happy Midsummer. I danced like a little frog. My dignity stayed home.
The sun will not go down and neither will the mosquitoes.
Happy Midsummer. My flower crown is mostly dandelions. Still counts.
I put seven flowers under my pillow and dreamed about strawberries.
Happy Midsummer. The weather forecast says rain, as tradition demands.
I tried to stay up all night. The sun won.
Happy Midsummer. Strawberry count so far: I lost track.
Our maypole is a bit crooked. Like my dancing.
Happy Midsummer. Jacket, sunscreen and umbrella, just in case.
My summer plan: sit near the lake and eat strawberries until autumn.

About Midsummer
Midsummer celebrates the longest days of the year around the June solstice. In Sweden, Midsummer Eve falls on the Friday between 19 and 25 June and is one of the biggest holidays of the year; Finland, Norway, Denmark and the Baltic countries hold their own versions around 23 and 24 June, often called St John's Eve.
In Sweden families raise a maypole covered in leaves and flowers, dance around it singing old songs, wear flower crowns and share new potatoes, herring, and strawberries with cream. In Finland, Norway and Denmark people light bonfires by the lakes and the sea.
In Poland, Noc Kupały is a night of fire and water: young people float wreaths of flowers and candles on rivers, and in Germany St John's fires, Johannisfeuer, burn on 24 June. Across the north, the nights hardly grow dark at all.
