Karva Chauth wishes for your loved one (18)
You fast all day for me, and I wait all day to see you smile at the moon. Happy Karva Chauth, my love.
The moon is beautiful tonight, but I will be looking at you. Happy Karva Chauth.
Thank you for every prayer you make for me. Mine are all for you.
May our love stay as bright as the Karva Chauth moon and as steady as the stars around it.
Your mehendi, your red bangles and your patient smile make this my favourite night of the year.
Happy Karva Chauth to the one who makes every day of my life feel blessed.
This year I am fasting with you. Whatever you go through, we go through together.
Through the sieve I see the moon, and beside it, my whole world. Happy Karva Chauth.
Happy Karva Chauth. The first sip of water from your hands is the sweetest thing I know.
Our first Karva Chauth together. May there be a lifetime of them.
May the moon rise early tonight, for your sake. I love you.
You pray for my long life. I pray that every year of it is spent with you.
Seven rounds, seven promises, and every Karva Chauth a reminder of them. Happy Karva Chauth.
No gift can match the love in your fast. All I can give is my whole heart, again.
Even the moon waits to see you in your bridal red tonight.
Years have passed since our first Karva Chauth, and you still make my heart race at moonrise.
I would wait for a hundred moons if you were waiting with me.
May the light of tonight's moon stay in our home all year.

About Karva Chauth
Karva Chauth is a one-day fast kept by married women for the health and long life of their husbands. It falls on the fourth day after the full moon of Kartik (Ashvin in the southern reckoning), in October or November, about nine days before Diwali.
The day starts before dawn with sargi, a meal often given by the mother-in-law. Women then fast without food or water, wear red or bridal clothes, apply mehendi and gather in the evening to hear the Karva Chauth katha and pass the puja thalis around in a circle.
At moonrise the wife looks at the moon and then at her husband through a sieve, offers water to the moon, and breaks the fast with a sip of water from her husband's hand. Many husbands now fast too, and unmarried girls sometimes keep it for a good match.
Karva Chauth is kept mainly in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh, and by Punjabi and North Indian families abroad.
How people celebrate Karva Chauth
- Sargi before dawn
- A day-long fast without water
- Mehendi, red bangles and bridal clothes
- The evening katha and passing the thali
- Seeing the moon through a sieve
- Breaking the fast from the husband's hand
How to wish well
- Send your wish in the afternoon or early evening, before moonrise.
- Romantic wishes from husband to wife are the heart of the day; a gift or a cooked dinner says even more.
- Light jokes about waiting for the moon are welcome; never joke about the fast itself.
- Not everyone keeps this fast, so keep wishes to colleagues and customers simple and general.
