Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. A blessed Good Friday.
He was wounded for our transgressions; by his stripes we are healed. May his peace be with you today.
Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. May we learn to forgive as He did.
It is finished. May the love shown on the cross fill your heart with gratitude this Good Friday.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son. May you know that love deeply today.
May the cross remind you that you are loved beyond measure. A blessed Good Friday.
Into your hands, Lord, I commit my spirit. May you find rest in God's hands today.
May the Lord who suffered for us comfort all who suffer today.
On this holy day, may your prayers be heard and your heart be at peace.
May the sacrifice of Christ bring you forgiveness, healing and new hope.
We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.
May you find strength at the foot of the cross and light on the road to Easter.

About Good Friday

Good Friday is the Friday before Easter Sunday, when Christians remember the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary. It is the most solemn day of the Christian year.

It is called good because Christians believe that through this day of suffering came God's love and forgiveness for all people. It is part of Holy Week, after Maundy Thursday and before Holy Saturday and Easter.

Churches are left bare, without flowers or music, and hold quiet services in the afternoon, often from noon to three, with readings of the Passion, the Way of the Cross and prayers. Many people fast or eat simply, and spend the day in quiet.

How people celebrate Good Friday

Way of the Cross
Three hours service from noon
Reading the Passion
Veneration of the cross
Fasting and simple meals
Quiet prayer and reflection

How to wish well

Good Friday is a solemn day, not a happy one. Avoid Happy Good Friday; say A blessed Good Friday or simply share a prayer.
Short lines from scripture or a quiet prayer suit the day better than long greetings.
Keep cheerful Easter wishes for Sunday morning.
No jokes, no emoji-style cheer. A formal, gentle tone is right for colleagues and customers.
