Good to know
- For HRA, give your employer one rent receipt per month. Making the whole year at once keeps the numbers in order.
- Rent paid by UPI or bank transfer is easy to prove: put the reference number on the receipt.
- The landlord signs the receipt, not the tenant. A drawn signature is fine for most employers; some ask for a signed paper copy.
- Receipt numbers count up by themselves: R-0009 is followed by R-0010.

Questions people ask
What should a rent receipt show for HRA?
The tenant's name, the landlord's name and address, the rented property address, the month, the rent amount in figures and words, how it was paid, the date and the landlord's signature. If the yearly rent is above ₹1,00,000, the landlord's PAN is also needed.
Can I make all twelve months of rent receipts at once?
Yes. Pick Rent, set the from and to months, and you get one receipt per month in a single PDF, numbered in order, two or three to a page if you like so they are easy to cut apart.
Do I need a revenue stamp?
A cash receipt for more than ₹5,000 usually carries a ₹1 revenue stamp signed across. Tick the box option to leave a marked space for it. Payments by UPI, bank transfer or cheque normally do not need one.
What is an advance receipt?
It confirms part payment before work is done or goods are delivered, such as a booking amount for catering. Write what it is towards and, if useful, the balance due in the note.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Receipts are made in your browser. Your own name, address and PAN and the last receipt number stay on this device only, and Clear saved data removes them.
