Getting started

How do I record my screen?

Click the Screen Recorder icon in the toolbar, choose This tab or Screen or window, and press Start recording. For a screen or window, the browser asks which one to share. Press Stop and edit when you're done.

How do I record my screen with sound?

Turn on Microphone for your voice. For the sound a page plays, record This tab and turn on Tab sound. When recording a screen, turn on Computer sound and tick the sound option in the browser's share window; some systems only offer it for tabs.

Can I record myself with my camera?

Yes. Turn on Camera before you start. The first time, the extension opens a page where the browser asks to use your camera and microphone. In the editor you can move the bubble, change its shape and make it large or full screen.

Which browsers does it work in?

Chrome and Edge, on Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS. It needs Chrome 116 or newer. Firefox does not let extensions record tabs this way yet.

Where is the icon?

New extensions are hidden under the puzzle-piece button in the toolbar. Open it and pin Screen Recorder so the icon stays in view.

Recording

Is there a time limit?

No. The recording is written to your computer as it goes, so memory stays flat whether you record for one minute or two hours. Recordings need free disk space: up to about 4 GB an hour at 1080p.

Can I close the popup while recording?

Yes. The recorder keeps running on its own. Click the icon again, or press Alt+Shift+E, to pause or stop. The icon shows the time while it records.

What happens if the browser crashes?

Everything up to the last second is already saved. Open Recordings from the popup; the recording is marked Interrupted and opens in the editor as usual.

What is Note where I click?

When you record a tab, it notes where you click so the editor can zoom in on each click for you. It only runs in the tab you record and only while you record.

Which quality should I pick?

1080p at 30 fps suits most videos. Pick 1440p or 4K for small text on a large screen, and 60 fps for fast scrolling or games. Higher settings make bigger files.

Editing and exporting

How do I cut out a mistake?

Choose Cut, click the video track where the mistake starts and again where it ends, then select the piece in between and press Delete.

How do I save as MP4?

Click Export, choose MP4, pick a size and quality, and press Export. The file is made on your computer and saved to your downloads.

Can I export only the sound?

Yes. In Export choose Sound only to get an M4A file of your voice and the recorded sound.

Why is exporting slow on my computer?

The video is made on your own computer. A smaller size, or Small file quality, is quicker. A recording you haven't edited is saved without re-encoding, so it takes seconds.

Is there a watermark?

No. Nothing is added to your videos, in the free version or in Pro.

Privacy

Are my recordings uploaded anywhere?

No. Recordings are stored in your browser and exported on your computer.

Where are my recordings kept?

In your browser's private storage on this computer, where only the extension can read them. Open Recordings to play, edit or delete them. Exported videos go to your Downloads folder.

Why does it need these permissions?

To record the tab you choose, keep recording after the popup closes, store recordings, and note clicks in the recorded tab for auto zoom. It asks for your camera and microphone only when you turn them on.

Does it track what I do?

No. The extension has no analytics and sends nothing about what you record.

Pro

Is it free?

Yes. Recording, editing and exporting up to 1080p are free, with no account, no watermark and no time limit.

What does Pro add?

Exports in 1440p and 4K, 60 fps exports, auto zoom on clicks, backgrounds and frames, captions from speech, and cutting filler words and silences. One Pro covers every sdev extension.
