How to make app store screenshots

  1. Add your screenshots

    Drop them on the page or tap Add screenshots. One goes on each slide, in order.

  2. Write a caption for each

    A short headline and an optional second line. Put *stars* around a word to colour it.

  3. Pick a template

    Choose a layout, colour and font, or start from a template. Add languages if you need them.

  4. Download

    Tick the store sizes and download one ZIP, or save the slide you see as a PNG.

Good to know

  • Lead with the one thing your app does best. The first two slides show before anyone scrolls.
  • Keep captions to five or six words, so they read at thumbnail size.
  • Drop many screenshots at once: they fill the slides in order, and new slides are added for the rest.
  • A slide can have its own layout, for example one zoom callout in a set of plain slides.
  • Ctrl+S saves the slide you see, Ctrl+C copies it, Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y undo and redo.
  • Your words and style are kept in this browser for next time. Screenshots are not kept.

Which sizes does it make?

App Store: iPhone 6.1" (1206 x 2622, required), 6.9" (1320 x 2868), 6.5" (1284 x 2778), iPad 13" (2064 x 2752) and the iPhone Duo outer and inner screens. Google Play: phone (1080 x 1920), 7-inch and 10-inch tablets and the feature graphic (1024 x 500). Portrait or landscape, PNG or JPEG, one folder per size in the ZIP.

Are my screenshots uploaded anywhere?

No. The frames, backgrounds and PNGs are drawn in your browser. Your screenshots never leave this device.

How do I make screenshots in more than one language?

Open Languages, add a language and type the captions for it. The download then has one folder per language, each with every size, ready for each store page.

How do I colour one word in a caption?

Put stars around it, like See where your *money* goes. Pick coloured words or a marker look, and the colour, under Style.

What is the panorama layout?

One background flows across all your slides, and phones reach across the joins. In the store row the slides read as one long picture.

Is my work saved?

Your captions, style, languages and sizes are kept in this browser for next time. Screenshots are not kept, so add them again after a reload. You can also save the settings to a .sdev file.

How many screenshots can I upload to the stores?

The App Store takes up to 10 per size and Google Play up to 8 per phone. The maker allows up to 10 slides. Most good listings use four to eight.
